Mingzhang Yin works on statistical inference and learning problems. He is interested in the dependence structures underlying different data structures, such as samples, variables and functions.  Currently, he is exploring the interface of machine learning and causal inference methods.  With guidance from Profs. David Blei and Simon Tavaré, he hopes to apply data science to help understand the causal mechanism and treatment effect of cancer. Mingzhang got his Ph.D. in statistics from The University of Texas at Austin, advised by Prof. Mingyuan Zhou. Before that he spent four years as an undergraduate at the Math department in Fudan University.
