Christian Cianfarani

Biography

Christian Cianfarani is a postdoctoral research scientist at the Data Science Institute, where his research addresses problems related to privacy and machine learning. In particular, his work will focus on examining how recognizing a right to be forgotten might impact the development of AI systems and understanding what kinds of second-order impacts might arise from its implementation. 

Before joining Columbia, Christian received his PhD in computer science from the University of Chicago, where he was advised by Aloni Cohen. His doctoral research looked at topics in privacy and security, including adversarial ML, differential privacy, and machine unlearning.
