Dr. Rimma Perotte (formerly: Pivovarov) is a Lecturer in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Columbia University and works as a Program Director for Research Science at NewYork-Presbyterian’s Value Institute. She studied biology and mathematics at Northeastern University and completed a PhD in biomedical informatics at Columbia University. Her dissertation focused on automated methods for electronic health record summarization and phenotyping. Dr. Perotte’s dissertation won the inaugural AMIA Doctoral Dissertation Award in 2017.
Dr. Perotte’s current work centers around quality and safety of patient care. Her work leverages clinical data and applies scientific methods to study and improve healthcare outcomes. She is dedicating to translating innovative tools and methods to the hospital setting.
