Merlin Chowkwanyun is an Assistant Professor of Sociomedical Sciences at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health and a member of the Center for the History and Ethics of Public Health. He received his B.A. from Columbia University, History, Sociology and Ph.D.-MPH from the University of Pennsylvania (History, Public Health). Between 2013–15, he was a Robert Wood Johnson Health and Society Scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is working with Jerry Markowitz (CUNY), David Rosner (Columbia), Alex Farrill (Open Listings), and the Center for Public Integrity on a searchable dataset of 4 million+ secret documents on industrial pollution.
