Thanks in part to the efforts of DSI career development and alumni services, 94 percent of recent graduates are currently placed in data science-related jobs.

More than 200+ current students and recent graduates of the M.S. in data science program attended the Data Science Institute (DSI) Fall 2020 career fair October 9.

Seventy recruiters represented 34 employers, including nine DSI industry affiliates, to share information about internships and full-time roles for data scientists and engineers.

The virtual event, which was powered by the Highre, a career fair platform for Gen Z and millennials, allowed employers to set up virtual booths featuring job descriptions and pre-recorded messages on company culture.

Students were able to book 10-minute time slots to speak with employers. Similarly, employers had the opportunity to schedule conversations based on pre-submitted resumes, or “take them on the fly, like waiting in line at a fair,” according to John Hyde, assistant director of career development and alumni services.

“The other difference this year is that recruiters hosted information sessions live throughout the event,” Hyde said. “This allows students the ability to find out more about companies and  organizations they are less familiar with.”
