Hector Rodriguez-Deniz is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Data Science Institute, working with Professor David Blei on scalable variational inference for complex spatial probabilistic models. Prior to joining the Institute in September 2024, he was a Lecturer in the Division of Statistics and Machine Learning (STIMA) at Linköping University, Sweden. He earned his PhD in Statistics from Linköping University in 2023, under the supervision of Professor Mattias Villani. His doctoral research focused on developing Bayesian models for spatiotemporal data, particularly in the context of transportation networks.
Dr. Rodriguez-Deniz is currently a Fellow of the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation under the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP), the largest individual research program in Sweden.
