Syed Waseem Haider, Ph.D., is a veteran AI Executive with over 17 years of experience leading AI and Data Science innovations, strategy, and governance. Syed has led enterprise global AI projects for Fortune 500 companies most recently at Merck, and in the past Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, and Philips Research. Syed is passionate about using AI to solve healthcare problems and improve sick patients’ lives.
Syed has led teams of data scientists, set up Centers of Excellence (COE) for AI, and built AI strategy, governance, and change management plans.
Syed has completed his doctoral degree from The University of Texas at Dallas, a Master’s in Computer Science, and a Master’s in Telecommunications Engineering from The University of Texas at Dallas. He is a fan of Temoc. His doctoral dissertation was used at Johnsons Control, Wisconsin, and Raytheon. Syed has published in leading journals, conferences, and business publications.
Syed’s research interests are in AI, Data Science, Generative AI, LLM, NLP, Time-Series, Predictive Modeling, Anomaly and Outliers, Causal, Bayesian, and Probability areas. Recently, with the advent of Generative AI, the democratization of AI compels that AI is used safely and responsibly for the well-being of people. He is pursuing AI Ethics, Policy, Governance, and fairness in Healthcare and regulated environments.
Syed is passionate about sharing with young engineers and scientists his learnings and counsels them in their career journey. Syed offers a graduate course, “Forecasting: A Real-World Application”, at the crossroads of Signal Processing, Time Series methods, Statistics, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning.
