Dr. Tanaporn (Tina) Na Narong is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Data Science Institute working with Professor Simon Billinge to develop data-driven methods for predicting materials’ structural and chemical properties.
In collaboration with Toyota Research Institute, Dr. Na Narong’s research focuses on combining multimodal data, including X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and atomic Pair Distribution Function (PDF), to extract scientific insights and advance physics-informed predictions in materials science.
Prior to joining Columbia University in October 2023, Dr. Na Narong earned her Ph.D. in Physics from Stanford University under the guidance of Professor Leo Hollberg. Trained as an atomic physicist, she developed numerical simulations to study quantum interactions between ytterbium atoms and strong laser fields for applications in magnetometry. Dr. Na Narong received her M.Sci. and B.A. in Physics from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.
