Professor Yuri Faenza joined the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at Columbia in Fall 2016. Prior to that, he was a SNSF Ambizione fellow, and a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Brussels, EPFL, and University of Padua. Faenza received his PhD in Operations Research from the Sapienza University of Rome.

Professor Faenza’s research currently focuses on Discrete Optimization and Operations Research. His work deals with mathematical modelling of real-world problems, proving fundamental properties of those models, and devising efficient algorithms. Topics of interests include Knapsack, Matching, Extended Formulations, and the interplay of Mathematical Programming and Computer Science. He is interested in a number of applications, including the School Choice, and more generally in applications of integer programming and matching theory.
