Columbia University’s Data Science Institute (DSI) has announced the appointment of Lori Glover as Chief of Strategic Alliances, a new role in which she will guide industry and research partnerships through DSI and across Columbia’s schools. Glover will join Columbia in January 2026.

Glover comes to Columbia after more than a decade at MIT, where she built global alliances with industry for the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory’s (CSAIL) Alliances program, creating one of the most successful university-industry partnership programs in the country, which includes focused efforts in fintech, sustainable machine learning, and data privacy and governance. This program currently engages more than 150 companies globally and supports a broad portfolio of research, talent, and innovation collaborations at MIT’s largest lab, home to more than 900 active projects.

Glover recently authored “Innovation Alchemy,” a practical playbook for building meaningful academic-industry alliances, and often speaks on this topic at conferences and professional associations.

She is also a member of the Board of Directors for the American Society for Engineering Education, College and Industry Partnership Division, the Advisory Board of EBSCO and the Massachusetts Cyber Education and Training Consortium (CETC). She holds a Juris Doctor and has practiced law as a member of the bar in both Massachusetts and Florida.
