Columbia University’s Data Science Institute (DSI) has announced the appointment of Lori Glover as Chief of Strategic Alliances, a new role in which she will guide industry and research partnerships through DSI and across Columbia’s schools. Glover will join Columbia in January 2026.

Glover comes to Columbia after more than a decade at MIT, where she built the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory’s (CSAIL) Alliances program from the ground up. She has created one of the most successful university-industry partnership programs in the country, which includes focused efforts on FinTechAI@CSAIL, Machine Learning Applications@CSAIL, and the MIT Future of Data, Trust & Privacy.  The CSAIL Alliances program currently engages more than 150 companies globally and supports a broad portfolio of research, talent, and innovation collaborations at MIT’s largest lab, home to more than 900 active projects. Glover also recently authored Innovation Alchemy, a practical playbook for building meaningful academic-industry alliances.

The Institute will host an opportunity to meet with Glover in early December, bringing the community together to welcome her to the University.
