Dr. Moïse Blanchard is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Data Science Institute, where he is part of the 7th cohort of the DSI Postdoctoral Fellows Program. Under the guidance of Professor Vineet Goyal and Professor Samory Kpotufe, he will be developing statistical learning theory and algorithmic approaches for sequential learning and optimization problems.
Before joining Columbia University in August 2024, Dr. Blanchard graduated with a PhD in Operations Research from MIT in May 2024 where he was affiliated with the Operations Research Center and the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems. He also holds a BSc and MSc in Applied Mathematics from École Polytechnique, where he graduated as valedictorian.
Dr. Blanchard’s research interests include statistical decision-making, machine learning, and optimization, with interests in areas such as online learning, contextual bandits, reinforcement learning, learning with unstructured data, algorithm design, high-dimensional statistics, and optimization under resource constraints.
