Dr. Eric Feltham is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the Data Science Institute, where he is part of the 7th cohort of the DSI Postdoctoral Fellows Program. His research focuses on social networks, causal inference mathematical sociology, social cognition, social theory, and political sociology. Under the guidance of Professor Peter Bearman and Professor Caleb Miles, he will be investigating the statistical properties of his novel sampling algorithm, aiming to establish it as a standard method for collecting data on perceived ties in large networks, and advancing the understanding of social network cognition.

Before joining Columbia University in September 2024, Dr. Feltham was a Postdoctoral Associate at the Yale Institute for Network Science and the Department of Sociology at Yale University. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology with distinction, alongside an M.A. in Statistics. Dr. Feltham also holds dual B.A. degrees in Philosophy and Economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
