Frank Lichtenberg is the Courtney C. Brown professor of business at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business and a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. He has performed numerous econometric studies of the impact of biomedical innovation on longevity and health in the United States and other nations. He has taught at Harvard University and the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris and been a visiting scholar at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin, the University of Munich and elsewhere. A frequent consultant to government agencies, Lichtenberg has served as an expert for the Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Department of Justice and state attorneys general. He has also worked for the Congressional Budget Office and the Census Bureau and has testified before Congress. Lichtenberg received a B.A. with honors in history from the University of Chicago and an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
