Joshua Jacobs is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Neurological Sciences (in Neurological Surgery). His research seeks to explain how the brain supports spatial navigation and memory. The specific focus of his current work is using statistical methods to examine brain activity from neurosurgical patients with electrodes implanted in deep brain structures as they perform spatial tasks. He also examines the effects of electrical brain stimulation on neural activity and behavior.

Jacobs has a B.S. and M.Eng from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Computer Science and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in Neuroscience.
