My research group studies machine learning and its application to science and industry, including in particular using the tools of artificial intelligence to understand biological intelligence and other complex processes. I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Statistics at Columbia University. I was a postdoc in the Machine Learning Group at the University of Cambridge, a graduate student in electrical engineering at Stanford University, and an undergraduate in computer science at Dartmouth College.
