Shalmali Joshi is an Assistant Professor at Columbia University, Department of Biomedical Informatics, where she leads the reAIM Lab. Professor Joshi is also a Data Science Institute member and an affiliate of the Department of Computer Science.

She completed her Ph.D. in 2018 from the University of Texas at Austin and her postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University and Vector Institute. Her research aims to advance Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods to advance clinical health and medicine for all. Her vision is to improve the equity, robustness, and generalizability of AI using Causal Inference, Reinforcement Learning, and Probabilistic Modeling in health.
