Dr. Vijay Pappu currently leads the personalization efforts at the connected fitness company Peloton Interactive Inc. Over the last decade, he has worked at companies like Spotify, Meetup, JP Morgan Chase & Co and American Express, focused on personalizing members’ digital experience using scalable Machine Learning techniques. Dr. Pappu’s research interests lie at the intersection of Machine Learning, Optimization and Engineering applied to real-world applications. Dr. Pappu has extensive experience in applying predictive models to several domains like digital acquisition, prospect targeting and product personalization. His recent experience includes managing teams building large-scale recommender systems that train deep learning models and provide recommendations for millions of users. 

Dr. Pappu received his Ph.D. in Machine Learning from University of Florida (UF) in 2013. His other academic achievements include a Master of Science in Management from Warrington School of Business at UF, MS in Industrial & Systems Engineering at UF, MS in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering from Rutgers University and a Bachelor’s degree from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. Dr. Pappu’s research work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings and has 300+ citations. He is the editor of a special issue for Energy Systems and has also co-edited two volumes published by Springer book series. He has co-organized two conferences at UF related to applications in Biomedicine and Smart Grid systems.
