Recent blossoming in data science and machine learning techniques has enabled data-driven solutions to health care delivery in a more efficient and effective manner. Since 2018, NYP IT Transformation Data Science Team has partnered with clinical experts and operational managers from Columbia and Cornell, developed and deployed machine learning algorithms, and successfully delivered a number of data science solutions to the bedside. NYP is now expanding data science team and offerings, and young talents to join this effort are welcome.
This workshop, organized by the DSI Health Analytics Center, will walk through the complete lifecycle of a few data science projects – from project creation and development, to deployment and evaluation – that have shown success in improving clinical outcome and enhancing operational efficiencies. The workshop will start with introduction of data science program at NYP, short talks by invited speakers, and the general discussion of existing and future research opportunities at NYP.
Invited Speakers:
Hanqing Cao, PhD
Hanqing Cao is Program Director of Data Science at IT Transformation Team, New York Presbyterian. Her main interest is to create data science projects and develop and deliver data science products that transform front line patient care and back office finance and hospital operations by leveraging techniques of data science, machine learning, and AI.
Soojin Park, MD, FAHA, FNCS
Soojin Park is an Associate Professor of Neurology (in Biomedical informatics) at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and Associate Attending Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center (NYP/CUIMC). Her research focuses on the development and clinical evaluation of innovative decision support tools in neurocritical care.
Ashley Beecy, MD
Ashley Beecy is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology at Weill Cornell Medicine. She serves as the Clinical Lead for IT Transformation and Advanced Analytics at NewYork Presbyterian. Her research is focused on digital health including the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) and the use of AI to study cardiovascular imaging.
Stephanie Shea MS, RD, CDN, CNSC
Stephanie Shea is the Clinical Nutrition Manager for the New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell campus. She specializes in critical care nutrition support and has a Masters degree in Health Informatics.
