Dr. Jayshree Sarathy is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Data Science Institute collaborating with Professor Rachel Cummings and Ms. Susan McGregor.
Dr. Sarathy’s research at the Data Science Institute focuses on differential privacy, and designing improved methods to communicate the statistical nature of differential privacy’s protections to stakeholders such as end-users, data analysts, lawyers, policymakers, or executives, and investigate the acceptability of those protections to different communities.
Before joining Columbia University in August 2023, Dr. Sarathy earned her S.M and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard University in Computer Science where she was mentored by Professor Salil Vadhan and Professor Jonathan Zittrain. She also completed her bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Yale University in 2018.
