Dr. Wei Tang is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the Data Science Institute, advised by Professor Shipra Agrawal.

His research interests are in online algorithms, algorithmic economics, and online behavioral experiments, with a focus on developing theoretically rigorous, empirically grounded frameworks to understand and design algorithmic systems that integrate humans as a component in the design process. More recently, he is also working on designing learning algorithms that achieve the desired societal outcomes, characterizing the long-term impact of fair/unfair policies in dynamical systems, and providing domain-specific insights for societally relevant applications.

Before coming to Columbia, Dr. Tang received his PhD at Washington University in St. Louis, advised by Chien-Ju Ho.
