Dr. Ya-Chun Liang is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Data Science Institute under the direction of Professor Clifford Stein

Her research interests mainly focus on designing online and dynamic algorithms that can be used to solve optimization problems with applications to scheduling with uncertainty. More recently, she has also been working on incorporating learning-augmented strategies into online algorithms to obtain better performance guarantees, falling into the new beyond worst-case analysis paradigm.

Before joining Columbia University, Dr. Liang received her Dual Ph.D. in 2023 from the University of Liverpool, UK, and National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, where she was advised by Professor Xinping Yi and Professor Chung-Shou Liao, and she worked closely with Professor Kazuo Iwama.
